BAOBAB TOUR – MADAGASCAR

INTRODUCTION“Sanctuary of nature” and “ecological jewel”, are the adjectives that qualify the natural wealth of Madagascar. The baobab, also called “Reniala” (“mother of the forest”) in Malagasy, is a 100% secular Malagasy tree. There are eight species on earth and six of them are endemic to the island. The baobab constitutes an important reserve of water which allows it to tolerate extreme climatic conditions. Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ANTANANARIVOArrival in Antananarivo.Meet and greet by our representative at the airport. Transfer to your hotel and briefing for your tours.Overnight in Hotel

Day 2: ANTANANARIVO / ANTSIRABEDeparture to Antsirabe at 8:30 am; 170km through the high plateau; adorned with its houses in red laterite and its hills ravined by the rain.Stop in Ambatolampy which is a small hamlet with undeniable charm and typical city of the Highlands region. The city is well known for its foundries and production of aluminum objects. This is an authentic gateway in the countryside of Madagascar. You will find many family foundries where you can buy some objects and knick-knacks. The region also contains numerous copper and bronze workshops where you can buy some souvenirs.   In the afternoon, visit of the city of water and its crater lakes; the small zebu horn articles and the rickshaw. Day 3: ANTSIRABE / MIANDRIVAZO / MORONDAVADrive to Miandrivazo through a volcanic landscapes characterized by rocky hills and grasslands. Day 4: ALLEY OF BAOBABS AND KIRINDY FORESTDrive to the kirindy forest. Some species of lemur can be found at like: The Verreaux’s sifakas, grey mouse, the common brown. Endemic reptiles are present too in this magnificent forest like 40 bird, 50 reptile and 15 amphibian species and many bats.
On the way back we will visit the alley of baobabs and lover’s baobabs.

Day 5: MORONDAVA / ANTANANARIVOTransfert from your Hotel to Morondava airport. Our representative welcomes you at your arrival in Ivato International airport then transfer to your Hotel in Antananarivo.Overnight in Hotel
Day 6: AMBOHIMANGA KINGS PALACE & CITY TOUR OF ANTANANARIVOAbout 25 kilometers northeast of Antananarivo in the central highlands of Madagascar lays the royal hill of Ambohimanga. The blue Hill is the birthplace of the Merina kingdom. This amazing world heritage is an archeological site that contains a ruined city, burial sites, and assorted sacred places. It is a place of religious and historical significance in the culture of the Malagasy people, and has been so for the last 500 years. This visit to the royal palace compound of Ambohimanga will give you a perfect introduction to the Malagasy history. Afterwards, drive through the vibrant city center of Antananarivo. Visit of the Lower City and the Middle City. Several variants are possible to have a nice overview of what is essential in the city.Stop at the local market souvenir shops.In the upper town, you will explore a majestic building that arouses curiosity, the Palace of the Queen which is the heart of the local cultural heritage. Day 7: FLY BACK HOMETransfer from your Hotel to Ivato airport to fly back home. End of service.
